A Reflection on My Journey: Where I’ve Been, What I’ve Been Working On, and my plans for the future of the community
The Journey So Far
In 2021, I launched a private community with high hopes and a wealth of resources, designed to help people transition into tech. While it saw some success, it remained a side project I couldn't fully commit to. Managing a full-time job, getting married, and balancing my personal life made it difficult to give the community the attention it deserved.
As time went on, the challenges became more apparent. The community, while full of potential, lacked the structure and guidance needed to truly thrive. Members were eager to learn and grow, but without a clear roadmap and tailored support, many felt lost or overwhelmed. I found myself stretched thin, unable to provide the level of support and direction that I had initially envisioned.
It became clear that for such a community to reach its full potential, it needed more than just occasional input; it required a complete reimagining of its purpose and structure.
Over the past year, I’ve done some deep thinking about where we're headed and how this community can lead the way. The tech industry is evolving rapidly, and with that comes immense opportunity—especially for those ready to take control and build.
I’m now fully committed to making this community a major focus in my life, as I believe it can open countless doors for all of us.
The Problem with the Current System
Let’s be honest: the traditional paths to becoming a software engineer—whether through universities or bootcamps—are outdated. They're expensive, slow, and fail to teach the real-world skills you need. You can spend years learning obsolete theory, only to find that when you graduate, you're still unsure how to build something meaningful. I had to learn that the hard way. The good news it that you don’t have to.
The job market has also been affected a lot over the past couple of years. Companies are more selective than ever, and degrees and certifications are losing their value. Many top tech companies no longer require a degree at all. What matters now is your ability to deliver results. Employers are looking for people who can demonstrate real-world skills, not just theoretical knowledge—whether you gained those skills in a classroom or at home doesn’t matter anymore.
Hiring committees have to be super selective about what they want in a candidate. A "false positive" in hiring—when someone gets hired but underperforms—is a company's worst nightmare. It wastes resources.
Meanwhile, the education system isn't keeping up. You no longer need years of classroom learning to become a capable engineer. Today’s tools and workflows allow you to learn and build much faster, but the traditional systems are still lagging behind.
The Job Market and Why It’s Tough
I want to get one thing out of the way before I announce what I’ve been working on. There’s no denying that the job market has changed, but not for the reasons you might think.
If you dig deep enough, you’ll realise that the biggest drivers were primarily due to the economic climate. Rising interest rates, reduced funding from investors, and the lingering effects of COVID-19 have all played their role. Companies hired aggressively in 2020 when the world was indoors. By 2022-2023, that momentum slowed down, and hiring has been much more selective. The good news is that this shift is temporary—the market will stabilise again.
The best thing you can do now is focus on up-skilling. When the market recovers, those who’ve been sharpening their skills will stand out.
Ex-Staff Data Engineer Zach Wilson summarises it perfectly in this post.
Introducing the Product Engineering Blueprint
I’m excited to introduce The Product Engineering Blueprint—a complete solution to the challenges facing aspiring engineers today. This isn’t just another course or a scattered set of resources. It’s an all-in-one, step-by-step guide that empowers you to build entire products from the ground up, end-to-end.
No traditional degree or bootcamp is needed. You’ll progress at your own pace, gaining experience in:
Modern web development and full-stack engineering
Crafting pixel perfects UIs
Effortlessly managing backend infrastructure
Continuous Product delivery based on User Feedback
Managing the entire Lifecycle of a Product, from ideation to launch, scaling the team if necessary.
Whether you're looking to break into a better career or build your own company, this blueprint—along with a supportive community—will provide all the tools, resources, and guidance you need to succeed.
Why This Blueprint?
Our focus is on efficiency and real results. You’ll learn only what’s necessary to be productive—no extra theory, just practical skills. This Blueprint is the shortest path to mastering complete product development. And as AI advances, it will make that path even shorter.
By fully committing to this Blueprint, you’ll know how to build complete products with real users. When recruiters or hiring managers see that you’ve built a real company with actual users in production, they won’t be able to resist connecting with you or offering an interview.
That kind of hands-on experience is rare, and it’s what will set you apart from everyone else—no one else is offering this kind of opportunity. Bootcamps are becoming obsolete. It’s time for a change.
A viable path for Migration?
This community isn’t just about writing code—it’s about empowering each other to build solutions that make a real impact globally.
For many of us, the ultimate goal is to gain the freedom to live and work from anywhere. In today’s digital age, mastering the skills to work remotely or create an online business can make that dream a reality. This community is designed to equip sincere individuals with the tools and knowledge they need to achieve that freedom, enabling them to support themselves and their families from wherever they choose to be.
It’s not just about learning to code—it’s about unlocking meaningful opportunities for yourself and others in the evolving digital landscape.
Will AI Replace Engineers?
There’s a common misconception, especially among junior developers, that AI is here to take developer jobs—but that’s far from true.
“AI will not replace you. A person using AI will.”
It’s simply a force-multiplier.
Much of the hype around AI is driven by aggressive marketing from companies seeking investment. In reality, AI enhances your capabilities; it doesn’t replace them.
Human intervention remains essential. Even minor bugs can cause significant outages, costing companies hundreds of thousands of pounds.
There’s a reason every tech company practices ‘code reviews’—humans reviewing other humans' work to ensure what gets deployed is as error-free as possible. We don’t even fully trust humans to get their code right on the first try, so trusting AI alone is out of the question.
No responsible company would rely on AI to manage entire aspects of a product's lifecycle without substantial human oversight.
Unhypnotise yourself.
The Future
The vision for this community goes far beyond individual success. The ultimate goal is to create a powerful, interconnected network of builders who are capable of scaffolding products and even entire companies quickly and effectively.
Imagine a community where we're not just learning side by side, but actively collaborating on large-scale projects. A network where we can find co-founders, team members, and mentors who share our values and ambitions. We'll be building real products that have an net-positive impact on this Ummah.
This isn't just about finding a better job or launching a single product. I want us to be a thriving ecosystem of entrepreneurs and engineers who can support each other. We'll be able to pool our skills, resources, and experiences to tackle bigger challenges together.
Together, let’s shape the Future of Software and Product Development 💙
